ORLANDO, Fla. (April 12, 2022) – The busy spring season for AAU Basketball is in full effect this weekend with the 2022 AAU Basketball Easter Classic. Athletes will be lacing up the sneakers and taking to the courts at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, starting Friday, April 15.
An estimated 137 teams will be traveling to Orlando with hopes of taking home a trophy at the end of the holiday weekend. Competitors range from 9U up to 20U and will be representing California, Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and Bahamas.
The AAU Basketball Easter Classic has been taking place for more than 20 years now, but for the first time in 2 years, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex will once again play host. Athletes will get the opportunity to play on some of the nicest courts there are. Games will be divided between the 3 gyms around the complex: The State Farm Field House, Visa Athletic Center, and the Advent Health Arena. 20 courts in total will be in play this weekend.
AAU medals and trophies will be earned by the top two (2) teams in each division. The top four (4) finishers in each of the high school age/grade divisions will receive seeding recognition into the 2022 AAU Boys and Girls Basketball World Championships.
Games will start as early as Friday, April 15 starting at 4 p.m. and will continue all day Saturday. Sunday will wrap up the tournament with bracket play and the award ceremonies. Games will be streaming live on BallerTV.
